Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Rooms and cleanliness rated lower than location — While the location scores 9, rooms and cleanliness are rated 7, suggesting some variability in room condition or housekeeping.
  • No pets allowed — The hotel has a strict no-pets policy, which may be a drawback for travellers with animals.
  • Limited check-in window — Check-in is only available from 15:00 to 23:00, which could be inconvenient for late arrivals after 11 PM.
  • Potential noise from central location — Being on Princes Street, a busy shopping thoroughfare, may result in street noise, especially for front-facing rooms.

“The location is unbeatable—right on Princes Street with views over the gardens and close to the castle, plus plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome from the start. Our room was newly renovated, modern, and spotless, with a huge bathroom and a castle view. Breakfast was delicious with generous portions, perfect for a day of sightseeing. We'd happily return and recommend it.”

“I've stayed here before and the location remains excellent—within walking distance of the train station. My front-facing room overlooked Edinburgh Castle. Staff were very friendly, and breakfast offered a great choice. The snack and evening meals were also excellent and reasonably priced. I'll be back in May.”

“The friendly staff and warm welcome stood out. We arrived at 9:30 AM and were told our room was ready, which was perfect after an early flight from Dublin. The breakfast was filling and set us up for the day.”

8.9Verified guest

“The front desk went above and beyond for our 4 AM checkout, arranging a taxi, bringing breakfast to our room, and having someone at the desk. The chef even sold me some jam from the kitchen at cost, as it was made by a company with my maiden name. Truly exceptional service.”
